About

Rotavirus is an oral (swallowed) vaccine. The vaccine is very good at preventing diarrhoea and vomiting caused by rotavirus. It protects most children who get the disease from severe rotavirus diarrhoea and hospitalisation

This is the commonest cause of diarrhoea and vomiting worldwide. Children are more likely to get rotavirus disease between November and May depending on the part of the country. Children can get rotavirus infection by being around children already infected.
